May Foodie Pen Pal REVEAL Day!

31 May
The Lean Green Bean

Wow, I cannot believe that May is already over and that June is tomorrow. I swear 2012 is flying by like nobody’s business. Anyway, it’s my second favorite day of the month – Foodie Pen Pal Reveal Day (the first is when the package actually arrives and I tear into it like a 6 year old on Christmas day!).

This month’s package came from Autumn (of http://www.mrsgaeul.com) and she sent me a delightful package which contained the following:

– Granola from her local grocer, that she said was her personal fave;
– Macaroon from Jennie’s;
– Snackanimals (Chocolate Chip) from Barbara’s foods;
– Kasha bar ; and
– Dk. chocolate, almond, and cherries bar.

Holy YUM! All of these treats were so amazingly good. I am having a hard time picking a favorite, but I especially loved the chocolate bar (I am a sucker for dark chocolate). I legit ate the entire thing in one sitting. I couldn’t help myself. It was so decadent. I knew if I ate half and put the rest away and found myself having to go to the bathroom at 2:00 A.M., I would have forgone the bathroom and would have just finished it off. I normally do not engage in eating a 2-3 serving chocolate bar in one sitting, nor do I encourage the behavior. However, in the instant case, it was just that freaking good. I was sad once it was over. But that’s okay, I had the other treats to tide me over. All of the snacks, including the granola, were portable so I got to have them while I was out and about doing the million and one things I normally do (school, work, internship, etc.). Also macaroons? How I love thee.

Thank you so much Autumn for such an AMAZING May month of goodies! You rock my socks! 🙂 Below are some pictures for your viewing pleasure:

Now, doesn’t this sound like so much fun?? You know you want to join… so here are the Foodie Penpals deets:
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.

Happy Thursday!

    I’m so glad you liked it all! I was a little worried about them all arriving in one piece, but they look pretty OK! I’m telling you, that macaroon looked so good that I had to stop myself from eating it. I hope you enjoy it! ❤
